BIOGRAPHY
Jia-Jia Zhu enjoyed fourteen years in corporate retail honing in her executive skills. She started in the fashion industry in retail operations at Issey Miyake and interning throughout Gucci Group brands as a college student in New York City. Upon graduation, she was recruited to go into the executive buying program at Macy’s Inc. After one year, she moved to Saks Fifth Avenue to continue to build her career as an executive in luxury retail - she held positions in Womenswear, Menswear, and Accessories. After five incredible and formative years at Saks Fifth Avenue, she became the buyer for Contemporary Womenswear and Jewelry at Bergdorf Goodman leading over one hundred brands within her vendor matrix. The success in her businesses came from identifying and taking action in niche opportunities, building connected relationships, strategic merchandising, exclusive product and partnership creation, intuitive trend analysis, and proactive financial planning. As a result of her work, she discovered and was first to launch key womenswear brands that are now industry staples, tripled growth in the jewelry department by increasing average price points and turning over brand and product matrix, developed a high margin private label category, and produced key designer and trend events that embodied a clear brand POV and transformative experiences for the client.
Growing up between Shanghai and California, Jia-Jia is influenced by both city and nature. Her passion for art and commerce brought her to New York City to study Art History & Economics at New York University and to pursue a career in the fashion industry. After fulfilling her journey in corporate retail and becoming a buyer at two iconic luxury retailers, Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue, she made a life changing decision to move to the oasis of Bali. She immersed herself into the healing arts, becoming a student and teacher of yoga, meditation, and reiki. During her time in Bali, she received a calling in one of her meditations to work with crystals. In 2020, she launched her fine crystalline jewelry business, Jia Jia, which is sold exclusively at Net-a-Porter.
Jia-Jia resides in New York City, where she oversees her jewelry company and provides her clients with merchandising and strategic retail services. She spends formative periods in China annually and speaks Chinese Mandarin and Shanghainese fluently, making her a valued partner for global brands. The work she does integrates her experience, knowledge, and network through a lens of consciousness. She helps her clients find clarity in what they want to achieve in their business. She then carves out a strategic approach and calls it to action to attain their vision.
